“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
-Melody Beattie (via Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of Simple Abundance)
When trying to make a change for the better, sometimes it’s easier to focus on what you don’t have or everything that’s going wrong. Bringing gratitude into your focus can offer you healing and forgiveness for the past, as well as a sense of mindfulness and appreciation in the present. Gratitude opens the heart and connects us to our self, others, and the world through our appreciation for what is. Ritualizing gratitude will assist you in letting go of the things that no longer serve you in exchange for the new habits that will support you in a healthy lifestyle and infuse your soul with a sense of peace and wellbeing. It’s like magic.
I want to share two things with you. The first will uplift you and the second will transform you. Check them out…
Dancing Your Way to Gratitude
This video – “The Gratitude Dance” – will put a smile on your face and in your heart. Watch and see what I mean!
You Have to DO Something to Change Your World
This is one of my favorite resources of all time – 29gifts.org. It simple. It works like this: You give away something each day for 29 days. Why? Cami Walker, who started 29 Gifts, says “Because to see your world change, you have to DO something to change your world.” If you’re ready for a shift in your life, take the challenge.
An Expression of Gratitude
This Thanksgiving, take some time to look a little deeper at what you’re thankful for. Look past what you have been given to see the giver as well as the true gifts you have received. Acknowledge not just what you have given, but how your offerings have enriched the lives of others. Then find some way, perhaps a little dance, to give expression to your reflections.
“Living your life through Gratitude, is not one of comparing how you are better than someone else; or Gratitude only for what you own or obtain or achieve. Living your life through Gratitude is seeing that the world would be missing something very unique and valuable if you were not in it.”
~Sumner M. Davenport
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being you and offering who you are to the rest of us. The world is a better place because you’re in it.
